Muppet Monday #1

10 Jan

Oh yes. I’m going to be making Muppet Monday a thing. If you think that I’m joking then:

A) You did not read my entry a couple days ago.

B) You obviously weren’t sitting next to me in Spanish today as I wrote out a list of all the things I could write about on Muppet Mondays.

So, what shall I talk about for this Muppet Monday? Hmmm, well, how about the fact that, in retrospect, I’m still a major nOOb when it comes to all things Muppets?

Okay, maybe the term “nOOb” is a bit of an exaggeration, but I still can’t deny the fact that I really am just a newbie to this fandom. I often forget this fact. It’s hard to remember when everyone in your personal life is constantly saying things along the lines of, “You are the biggest Muppet fan that I know.” For a while you start to believe it and your head swells up with pride, but spend five minutes on the internet and that swollen head of yours will instantly be popped.

Don’t get me wrong, I am undoubtedly a huge fan of Muppets. Of course I am! But there is still so much I haven’t seen/read/listened to in the world of Muppet-ness. I mean, I only just started listening to MuppetCast today for the first time (which, sadly, aired it’s final episode just recently), and I haven’t even seen the second and third season of The Muppet Show. There are minor Muppeteers names I still don’t know, I’ve never read a book about Jim or any of this projects, and I’ve still yet to see Muppets at Walt Disney World (even though a friend burnt me a copy and it’s sitting literally two feet away from me). Obviously I still have a ways to go.

I don’t know why I’m choosing to write about this. Maybe because, after writing that big long piece about how devoted/obsessed I am to/with Muppets, I just want to make sure I don’t get ahead of myself. It’s good to keep yourself grounded. I just have to take a deep breath and remind myself that I’m still new to all of this. One year is not enough to take in all the massive amounts of information on these guys. The Muppets have been around for decades.

Hopefully by the end of this year I’ll be even more educated in the art of Muppets and be able to say, with confidence, that I am one of the biggest fans out there.

[…] this wordpress way back in January? Yeah? … No? Well, yeah, probably because I only ever did one Muppet Monday entry… ever (and it was a pretty crummy topic to write about too). I may try to revive it, […]
